From being a figurative painter, over the years I have developed my painting. I am now more interested in losing the image and concentrating on the marriage of colour and form. This has led to bigger paintings on which I have started off with a figurative idea and have become more interested on the balance of shapes. This often entails turning my painting around sometimes working it upside down. When finished I like the picture to have not only an impact, but also a lasting, sustaining presence.
