Sarah Woods (b. 1994) is a painter and printmaker documenting the landscape through various mediums and re-working materials.

Her prints are largely informed by an obsession with line, creating repetitive marks whilst abstracting and refining initial observations. This is translated through mixed media paintings that are sewn and engraved, altering the surface and emphasising the materials used.

Perception, reception and response are key processes to Woods’ interpretation of the landscape. Often reversing the use of materials and questioning the order of applying mediums in her paintings, she encourages a thoughtful and methodical approach to her work.

Woods displays prints at Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens as well as Newlyn Art Gallery and The Exchange, Penzance. Recent exhibitions include Homemade, commissioned by Newlyn Art Gallery as part of Newlyn Arts Festival (2016), Print at The Poly, Falmouth (2016) and Collaborators, The Exchange, Penzance (2016).
