The main change this month has been the installation of a large new window in the east gable wall, to replace the one that had been removed and boarded over soon after John Wells died. This wall has the best natural light in the studio, so a painting wall has been constructed in front of the window, but with a removable section in case the tenant prefers the view.
The building works are now very close to completion. The two windows on each side of the front door have been repaired, the dado panelling has been repaired or replaced where it was too badly damaged and the stairway has been finished. Downstairs the kitchen has been fitted, with just the worktop to be installed. Internal and external decoration and electrics and plumbing are mostly complete.
The approach to the studio has been remodelled because in wet weather it used to be very slippery. The drainage has been improved, the ground just inside the entrance has been consolidated, and a new path with steps constructed leading up to the studio door.
